Confirmation

In the face of rejection, it is easy to beat yourself down and lose the will to get back up. And that’s where God steps in…

It’s been a little over a week since I turned 22 and in that time I’ve been on an emotional rollercoaster. Ever since I graduated, I have been hellbent on living the perfect postgrad life. The joke is on me because that’s not how the real world works at all. I’ve been planning, budgeting, goal-setting, and doing things which made me feel as if my life was more on track. But in reality, I had no idea what I wanted to pursue in terms of a career, I was applying for jobs that weren’t a good fit for me, and meandering through my day-to-day life. I was unhappy, I was frustrated, and I felt ready to give up.

I went on interviews for jobs, but nothing felt like it was going to end up being a long-term career fit, which is fine, but something still felt wrong.

Sometimes, God shows us what we need, exactly when we need it. More often than not, we get so down on ourselves that we lose sight of what we are looking for and God aims to redirect us.

To give some background, I love children and have been told by my friends, my parents, and my boyfriend that I would make a great teacher. However, I felt like the road to getting a teaching certificate would be unattainable given the things happening in my life.  I stopped being scared and applied for an alternative certification program and heard back immediately. Hopefully, within the next week, I’ll be able to start this program and become certified within the year.

Today really solidified that I am on the right path. I went to get a haircut this morning and struck up a friendly conversation with an older lady in the shop. She told me that she could sense my enthusiasm and my passion for teaching and children. To have a complete stranger see those qualities in me, proved that the hunch that my family and friends had was right all along.

I say all of this to say, when you feel as though things aren’t going as planned, there may be a reason for that. God will show you what that reason is when he feels you are ready to receive it. So stay diligent, patient, and prayerful, but watch what flourishes in your life when you do those things.

But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.I Peter 5:10-11
