Signs

Society has programmed us to work, to outperform, to constantly be on. This practice can be unhealthy and we often run the risk of burnout.

Burnout can be hard on people who are goal-driven, type A, or perfectionists. I identify as all three and am constantly worried that I’m never giving enough of myself to the task at hand. This can be dangerous,

This post is simply to serve as a reminder to take care of yourself. Say no, take time for yourself, turn of your phone if you need to. It’s impossible to be at your best when operating at less than 100%. It can be humbling to tell yourself to slow down or take a break, but it’s much more humbling when the universe does it for you.

It is incredibly important to take cues from your body and psyche when you’re feeling worn down. There have been times when I haven’t and immediately suffered the consequences. When I have chosen to be in tune with myself, I am able to create a plan that meets my needs and allows me to recharge.

Life is far too short to be worried about constantly keeping up with the unattainable, rather, we should stop to enjoy the moments as they come to us. To take time for ourselves when necessary. Self-care is honestly one of the most important things we can do for ourselves and we shouldn’t be ashamed for taking time out to do it.

I encourage you to check in on yourself. How are you feeling? Do you need a break? Are you giving too much of yourself to others? Is it time to step back?

Take the time to take care of yourself. After all, you only get one you. Be the best version of you for you.
